Mr. Emin Huseynov, Principal Korea Foreign School

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome to Korea Foreign School, a proud candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). It is my pleasure to personally welcome you to our school located in Seoul, South Korea. Growing in popularity for its excellence in lifelong education, Korea Foreign School has approximately 105 students in grades 1 through grade 10 and runs a trimester schedule from August until June. Following the graduation requirements of the world’s international schools, KFS ensures that each student receives a well-rounded education that includes a unique combination of academic standards and achievement in a safe and inviting school culture.

Korea Foreign School achieved joint accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Accredited schools are subject to regular monitoring through routine progress reports and visits, a process which keeps standards high and ensures that schools continue to develop and improve. Accreditations from these two important organizations mark KFS as one of the highly recognized international schools in the world.

Our students learn international mindedness by taking a world language class and learning from a global perspective. IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) focus on developing caring and open-minded students who take action to make the world a more peaceful place. We provide our students with an international education that addresses the social, physical, emotional, cultural and academic needs of its students.

Korea Foreign School provides students many opportunities to learn and grow through the highly accredited Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and the National Standards for Social Studies, which all call for higher-level thinking in our core content areas. As part of our requirements students are expected to complete requirements for graduation from middle school, while demonstrating their ability to be successful global citizens. Students also benefit from a variety of learning opportunities in addition to the required curriculum including a chance to travel while competing in international Olympiads, extracurricular activities, and an outstanding technological experience. With a low student to teacher ratio and an internationally minded school program, students will find success and be challenged, while studying at KFS.

As part of our vision, we hope to prepare students to be life-long learners and good citizens in a culture of shared responsibility. At Korea Foreign School, we are committed to creating a learning environment that is safe, nurturing and respectful in order to foster and develop students knowledge, skills, and abilities. We understand and focus on preparing our students to be 21st-century learners. Our world has changed and is constantly evolving. Our primary responsibility is student learning and offering all students the educational opportunities that will maximize their potential in this changing world. Today’s world demands that each individual can think critically, create and communicate in a technology driven society. Korea Foreign School is committed to the use of technology in the process of teaching our students critical thinking skills to prepare them for today and tomorrow.

As the principal, I am proud of the success of our students and the achievements of Korea Foreign School. I encourage you to contact me with your any further questions or inquiries. I welcome your interest in Korea Foreign School as we work to serve the needs of Korean and International Families in Seoul.

Sincerely Yours,

Emin Huseynov
